mexico-magicjackYup, you heard it right, we’re living down south of the border now. I’m pinging in from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico while writing this.

So what a great time to test the magicJack, right?

I’m going to be doing some serious testing while we’re down here, though I haven’t even plugged it in yet. Reason being, I only have one hard line phone right now, and it’s plugged into our Mexican hardline phone number.

I also haven’t had a need to make calls from Mexico To the United States but once I do I will be testing this baby since calls on the magicJack from Mexico To The US are free.

It will be interesting to see how magicjack and VoIP in general performs on the international level and am excited about its cheap international calling rates. So I’ll keep you posted.

And if you are using magicjack in another country, be sure and post your experiences here in our comments below. Praise or complaints, we want to bring your stories to everyone considering purchasing the product.

As for me, I’ll keep you posted on how well the magicjack works down here, south of the border and I will also continue to enjoy my time away from real life… I never want to comeback! 🙂

Using magic Jack in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico

Yup, I finally got around to testing the magicjack today here in Monterrey – Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Here are the specs for those that are interested:

I was connecting via a Toshiba Satellite L355D Laptop. The phone I used was a cordless Panasonic Dect 6.0 Model number KX-TG1311ME.

Now, down to brass tacks. The MJ performed flawlessly!

To take the test to a more extreme level, I disconnected from my cable internet connection (Cablevision) and dialed in via my wireless modem purchased through Telcel. (The actual unit is a Sony Ericsson MD300 USB modem). Now the connection via Telcel is always quite a bit weaker, but to my pleasant surprise, the device once again came through, crystal clear.

So my experience with the magicjack here in Mexico is near perfect, zero problems at all. I made five calls this afternoon to the states, all of them near perfect, 98% I’d say since it’s hard to say anything is 100% perfect. When I asked the person on the other end how the call quality was, all five people responded well. All of them were not aware that there was any difference from a regular phone line, there was no indication of crackling, delay, or echo.

So yes, I am pleased at how the MJ has performed south of the border. If you have experience with it in other countries, please head over to our reviews section and leave your comments. We’d love to hear from you.
