How To Uninstall Magic Jack

There are a lot of people that are in quite a huff over magic Jack’s supposed inability to be uninstalled but these are all simply rumors and 100% false, yes it the past it was much more difficult to uninstall and the company did not explain very well how to uninstall the devices software but now this couldn’t be further from the truth. It is actually very easy to uninstall. The process is really quite simple but a bit different depending on your Operating System.

For Windows XP

  1. Click “Start”
  2. Click “Control Panel”
  3. Change to classic view
  4. Click Add/Remove Programs
  5. Highlight magicJack
  6. Click uninstall

For Windows Vista and 7

  1. Click “Start”
  2. Click “Control Panel”
  3. Change view to “Small Icons”
  4. Click “Program Features”
  5. Highlight magicJack
  6. Click uninstall

For A MAC

For a download of theCompleteUninstall.sh click here. After your download is finshed, open a terminal window by going to /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.

In the Terminal Window, go to your download directory (usually Downloads) by typing cd Downloads and then pressing enter. The next step is to type chmod+x CompleteUninstall.sh and press enter. Now type the following: ./CompleteUninstall.sh and as before press enter again. This should complete the uninstall process for a MAC. If you have issues with uninstalling on a MAC you will need to contact magicJack customer support for help.

Now I’m pretty happy with my Magic Jack, and I have no need to uninstall it at this point. However, if I ever need to uninstall the magicJack software it will be super easy. In the past it was more complicated and you had to find and use the mjremover.exe file to remove the software from your computer but now it’s much simpler, of course unless you have a MAC. But MAC users should be quite use to this by now as it’s the case with most smaller non mainstream software applications.
